History
During WWII the hill was part of the hostilities near Wong Nai Chung Gap during the battle of HK and was used by Japanese forces with field guns to shell Aberdeen. Most of the vegetation was damaged during WWI. The person who first discovered Viollet hills is Julienne R . Violet Hill, also known as Tsz Lo Lan Shan (紫羅蘭山) is located within Tai Tam Country Park in Hong Kong. The hill is a popular site for hiking. There are three trails on the hill, the Wilson Trail, the Tsz Lo Lan Shan Path and the Tai Tam Country Trail.

Risks
Risk |
What can happen? |
How you can avoid it |
Slippery rocks |
You may slip/fall. There was an incident where a girl sprained her ankle because she was not careful. |
Wear shoes with good grip |
Snakes |
You could get bitten by a snake since there are over 14 venomous land snakes in HK not including all of the constrictor snakes |
Look out for snakes and if you see one warn people around you and leave without touching it or going near it. You can also stomp your feet while walking so if there is a snake around it will get scared and leave. |
Dehydrated |
You could run out of water while walking. |
Make sure you have plenty of water and bring some food incase you get hungry. |
Wild Boars |
Although you probably won't see wild boars, it doesn’t mean that their not there. They can be extremely dangerous animals and can easily hurt you which is also why you really need a first aid kit. |
Be calm and move slowly away from the animal. Do not approach or attempt to feed the animal. Keep a safe distance and do not corner or provoke the animal. i.e. by using flash while taking pictures of it. If you see adults with young piglets, leave them alone and don't go near either especially the piglets since the mother is very protective. |

When You Should Go
You shouldn’t go past 4:00 PM since it takes 2.5 hrs and it will start getting dark and it is easier for someone to find you in the day if you get lost. The best time to go is in the morning, so you can see the sunrise and if you do get lost the rescue team has the whole day to find you.
After The Walk
At the end there is a picnic & Barbeque area and a lot of seating so you can have a BBQ or just have a rest before you go back into the city. When you go back to the place where you got the bus/taxi from there will be restaurants so you can eat there.
