Transportation
The Victoria Peak is accessible by walking from anywhere in HK island. You could take a taxi to the peak, but it won’t take you directly to the entrance of the peak. The whole hike is about 2800m(2.8km) and it will take you approximately 2 hours to get to the peak. The way up to the Peak Galleria (Victoria Peak) is full of beautiful scenery, plants and exercise equipment. Instead of walking up you could take minibus no.1 from IFC Mall in Central as it takes you straight to the top of victoria peak. Another famous way is to take the peak tram (located in HK central) which is a huge tourist attraction and it's constantly full of people lining up.

History
In the 19th century, the Victoria Peak attracted a lot of British residents and tourists due to it’s beautiful panoramic view of the Hong Kong skyline. Another reason these people visited the Victoria Peak was due to the temperate climate of the Victoria Peak, different to the tropical climate of HK. During the old times, the britians travelled to the peak by “sedan chairs” which is a type of old transport, where 4 people carry a “chair” and move the person sitting on the chair. This was later replaced by the peak tram as it was a extremely hard job and they needed a replacement. And back in the 19th century there was the peak hotel which was where most tourists stayed.

Walking your dog is a great idea on this walk. There's a dog park and your dog gets exercise by walking with you and so do you. But if walking isn't enough exercise there are many exercise points and if you are tired there are also many resting points. At the the resting points there can be great views of Hong Kong.
