History
Established in the 1960s the shed provided a permanent venue on the beach for swimmers to change clothes, take shower and store their belonging. Nowadays, old swimmers come in the morning while tourists or families come to see the sunset in the evening. It is also a popular photo location among people and for the beautiful twilight scenery with wooden bridge where you can stand , beacon and ebbing waves in the background.
From becoming a private shed to a Hong Kong tourist attraction. Now it is a beautiful swimming shed. This mostly occurs because there is no pollution in that specific part. It is very natural and clean. People preserve the area and respect people who live in it. Sai wan swimming shed has become one of Hong Kong's greatest sunset places to be. |
Things to do and see
Once you go down the steps, look around the place and see the grass and the trees. When you're down you can go on to the bridge and take photos of the sunset. Sunsets in Hong Kong are really rare but in this place, it happens every time. If you're fishing, you can sit on a big rock and while away your time with the cold breeze and the waves splashing. Go further and then you will see a beach. If you want to get wet and jump into the ocean, you can wait for big waves to splash on you or jump from the bridge and swim but be careful. Try and explore as much as you can possibly enjoy the nature around Sai Wan Swimming Shed.
